Frances McCloud was also listed in the Tuskegee Army Flying School’s Wings Over America publication, 1942 yearbook. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A & M College, Tallahassee, Florida, in 1942. The same year she graduated, McCloud entered active duty on September 9th and was assigned to TAAF at a rank of second lieutenant. She worked as a medical nurse at the station hospital. She was promoted to first lieutenant in July of 1944 and worked as a general duty nurse from 1944-46. She replaced 1LT Ruth Faulkner as principal chief nurse after Faulkner separated from the service in 1946. By the summer of 1946, Chief Nurse McCloud had transferred.
